Your Drafty Window Wants A Blanket.

Our house was built in 1920 and it has some drafty windows, even with storm windows installed. While we are working on replacing a few at a time [super expensive!] I’ve tried to come up with some short-term alternatives that don’t break the bank.  The latest solution is using a stylish throw blanket to cover the window. Living in Maine, who doesn’t have a stash of these?

While you can simply use an existing curtain rod, I didn’t have curtains up for this window [and have no intention of putting them up there], so I didn’t want to damage the gorgeous original woodwork for this quick fix–so, I purchased a tension curtain rod that slips right into the window frame without any screws or hardware.

I also didn’t want to harm the blanket [a gift from my best-friend], so I used clip rings to fasten it up on the curtain rod.

Smart! We have a few windows that are so drafty and need something, but we’re not interested in permanent.
