Revamp Champs Entry #19: Nursery– Kate Hanavan, Portland, ME

We transformed one of the upstairs bedrooms into a nursery for our little one…

We stripped the wallpaper off the walls, patched and repaired, primed, and painted with a light grey. Repainted all trim, heat registers, and ceiling and hung curtain rods. Then I went to town bringing in elements from both my husband’s and my childhood to make this a special, cozy space. I found the old bureau at Habitat for Humanities Restore and sanded it down, refinished it, leaving the frame wood and adding white to the drawers to soften the look. I also added new hardware, little brass foxes that add a whimsical element. I also built the grey frame that hangs above the crib and strung it with twine to create a place to hang the sweet cards I received at my baby shower.

I love how the rug reflects the handles on the drawers.
