Our family is always trying to reduce the exposure to toxins in our home– from the food we eat to the products we surround ourselves with. Honestly, it feels daunting at times because it’s hard to find anything that doesn’t have some sort of negative impact on the health of our bodies or the environment. But rather than throwing up our hands in defeat or moving to some remote area of Maine to begin homesteading, we keep tackling a couple major areas of concern each year and do the best we can day to day.
Maine Hardware also recognizes this growing eco-friendly movement and has been trying to support it by identifying new products and expand its offerings. In 2018, the store will be placing labels at point of sale to make it easier for customers to identify some of these eco-friendly products.
As my family has switched over to “eco-friendly” products it’s taken a lot of time and trials to find the products we’ve come to love. So this year, I thought I’d start to post about my favorites and begin to share my experience as I trial new products found at Maine Hardware. Hopefully it will save you some time/effort in finding new eco-friendly alternatives. Stay tuned for my first recommendation (which also happens to be my very favorite eco-friendly cleaning product)…
Keeping transparent: I work for Maine Hardware, so technically my time writing these posts is paid for–but that said, I am not told what to write, nor do I make any commission from sales. My intention is only to share my personal thoughts and experiences [in fact my opinion may not be the opinion of the store or other employees!]. I am also constantly trying to learn more and gain from the suggestions of others– so please don’t hesitate to contact me with information, product suggestions, feedback, etc. [email me at firstname.lastname@example.org]
